The adjective “global” is so commonly used that is hard to not believe all of us think globally, yet that’s far from true and rather frequently we have hiccups related to it.

I am a huge fan of globalisation but in a balanced way so let me show you how to really make global-driven decisions that will help you grow.

Frist of all, thinking globally is very difficult as all of us deal with prejudices, unconscious and conscious biases and preferences with whom we like to work.

Many times, our choices are narrowed down to people whom we culturally understand.

I had a client few years ago who had a fantastic product that he wanted to expand on the global market.

Honestly, I thought it was the chance of the lifetime for me to shine, but my work and campaign was a total fiasco.

Yes, I was able to deliver 60+ fantastic offers, yet he assumed that either people will comply with him 100% or else.

Ignoring cultural backgrounds, ways of doing business, and external circumstances is way more common than we think.

It cripples us on a private level by narrowing our circles of friends but also it cripples us business-wise.

Does it mean we should now go and expand just for the sake of it?

Well, not really because so many companies did that and they have constant structural problems and cultural clashes.

If you are not willing to work on your mindset in order to understand how other party works, thinks, and what is important for them, then you will have a very hard life.

Thinking globally starts not from market analytics and spreadsheets but from the mindset and honest self-inventory.

All of us have regions and cultures which are difficult for us, because of, for instance, communication style.

By being honest with yourself you will find a solution to choose such countries that fulfil your criteria but at the same time they are in your scope of expansion of your mindset boundaries.

So many times, by assuming something we are misled, misunderstood and lost.

When you work with anyone asking basic questions about the way, style of cooperation is very helpful yet so many people treat it for granted.

Even people from your homeland might misunderstand you so why do you assume someone from a different part of the globe can read your mind ?

Global mindset is not a one-time workshop.

It is rather constant work on your way of perceiving reality, people, business and your business. All crises are to show us gaps.

Global way of thinking works if you know how to plan.

Universal good advice for almost all companies is to have a diversified portfolio of business partners.

Diversified local and global suppliers can better mitigate the risk, yet a huge part of the market puts all eggs in one basket and then claims that globalisation doesn’t work.

That’s not true, poor planning and greed don’t work long-term, not globalisation.

There are already countries that over time have created certain niches in their own production sector to do better quality products, faster, and more diversified than others.

Is it bad?

Not at all, as far as you will have over time a company number 2 that can do the same thing, so you don’t have to rely all on 1 company.

The fact that we have access to international companies is amazing and creates so many possibilities of products, variations, and helps navigate inequalities.

So many times, we forget that the way how we perceive business and the world is a mirror reflection of our mindset, and biases and prejudices control us.

That’s how we will see business partners, make decisions and then pay for them one way or another.

Mixing politics and bias is a tragic combination as unfortunately we can see now (2026) and gathering more knowledge and understanding about factory X in place of Y can help us to make proper decisions, not media and politicians.

There is a reason why we have implemented so many rules about international transport, ports, and trade.

All crises are to show us where gaps are and what should be reconstructed not to ruin the system that benefits so many.

Most consumers don’t have any idea that only a small part of population would be able to afford a fridge or washing machine if all would be manufactured in the country of origin.

As business owners, consumers and voters we create the world where we live in and so many times we forget about it.

As I said it’s not easy to think globally as you need to have empathy, read, follow the news (rather the economic sector than politics) and speak with experts, your factories, ask others and yourself reluctant questions.

All of us have our own part of the puzzle to put into a big picture if we want to have access to free trade.

The moment when more people understand it, we will have better conditions to make business decisions.

Globalisation works, we simply need to understand that all of us are accountable and all of us should exercise the way how we do business with others, on the local, communal, national, global way.
