If I would be a small /mid-size company I would suggest always to ask for a trial period before buying and making sure the proposed solution/tool can be tailored to your company, and you have assigned assistant.
Intrigued ?
If there’s one industry where AI usage is extremely successful and all of us should learn from it, it’s definitely manufacturing.
Robotics were known there before marketing companies bombarded us with AI campaigns.
Industry always thrives to make the workplace better and work more efficiently and safer, so a certain mindset was already there before AI even entered the room.
As a part of the supply chain world, I am happy and proud to walk you through all of the amazing, successful, ethical and well used solutions in the industry.

Machinery
The subject of safety in manufacturing was always a serious concern and now thanks to technology and AI we can observe minimalizing of risk.
Not only risk of injuries but also risk of machine failures which would influence human safety and revenue.
One of them is using AI tools to analyse data from different sensors.
These data can warn us about any malfunction, issues, potential repairs, and downtime.
All of that now can be planned better.
It also optimises energy usage and helps with planning.
Products can be designed faster as AI will include all potential variables quicker so engineers can have their prototypes faster and only check them, correct them or be inspired by the outcomes.
I’ve recently came about an article about generating huge savings due to better usage or rather reusage of scrap metals thanks to optimising through AI.
The damaged goods sector is very problematic and financially draining so the possibility of such optimisation of production is and would be more than welcome by any manufacturing facility.
AI-powered robots work already in welding, warehousing, and assembling.
This is not only a great help for people working on conveyor belts, but also it helps make the working space safer and optimise production capacity.
A big sector is inventory control, planning and logistics.
Here human touch will always be needed as safety stock is volatile, must be tailored to every company and additionally adjusted but nevertheless it’s a great help when an AI- powered robot can check physical safety stock, control expiration date, and carry forward orders.
Very specialised warehouses like Amazon have all infrastructure built around AI robots which can process all PO from the moment of opening order, checking availability, carrying product to the packing station, packing items and putting the shipping label on the package, and some even send package to the customer.
Of course it doesn’t mean human interaction is gone.
It means that employee focus on not typical, non-repetitive examples and can better utilise skills that all humans have so power of own brain by managing AI-Team.
It’s a great and efficient way to use of Agentic-AI.
Transport and logistics have always used some more or less complex solutions to speed up the loading process.
An example that all of us know is the forklift but let me tell you forklifts and solutions available on the market now are way more advanced and complex.
AI powered tools not only lift, load and unload goods, but now tools can also plan basic demand, predict delays and manage inventory.
It’s a great example of cooperation between humans that is still needed and appreciated as an essential part of the industry and robots that do the heavy lifting.
Warehouse managers can worry way less about the safety of their crew and this part for me is the most uplifting as AI should serve us, protects us and make sure our job is secured, safe and we have time during working hours to analyse, improve, implement new ideas.
This was a part which was missing for decades by people working in logistics and warehousing industry.
Of course, it doesn’t mean that all solutions are without mistakes even the best set up manufacturing plants need frequent updates and adjustments and such tools help to create space for the human factor to think instead of being exhausted by daily activities.
I see that now as of mid 2026 there is a huge exodus of companies that see a niche in creating optimising tools in logistics, warehousing, demand planning designed for small companies.
They take solutions, ideas from big entities and tailor solutions that could be easily adjusted to entities with small capacities.
Some do it better than others to be frank with you.
From a consultant point of view, I can tell that developers that actively listen in order to understand not to respond, have in my opinion the biggest chance to succeed in the very competitive market.
If I would be a small /mid-size company I would suggest always to ask for a trial period before buying and making sure the proposed solution/tool can be tailored to your company, and you have assigned assistant.
Also, do research about the company history and finances. Many AI software companies are fly-by-night and you wouldn’t want to invest in an expensive implementation and have the company goes out of business and leaves you hanging.
